Twice a year the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southeast Minnesota offers a 12 week course called Family to Family Education. This class meets once a week for 12 weeks. It is a peer course offered by and for family members who have a loved one who has mental illness. The volunteers will take the course, go through teacher training and then teach the course. There are two teachers for each course. The course teaches coping skills, communication skills, mental health diagnosis, treatment options, problem solving and more.
